This is worded differently to other versions I've seen. This has been toned down.
Busted have been tackling the tricky question of whether they ever get cosy with their female fans.
They're on tour at the moment and are heading back over to the States soon. They are also being filmed by MTV for their own reality TV show.
The guitar-bashing boys have some die-hard fans who know where they're going to be before they do. But Matt told Radio 1 he wasn't really into getting close to their groupies:
"I get asked a lot, 'Have you slept with any fans?'. And the answer would be… No! If you'd seen the girls that were waiting for me backstage you would understand why."
"That's a really horrible thing to say I'm never gonna have any fans for the rest of my life. OK, then backtrack."
"Seeing 60% of the girls that wait for me backstage then, no but there's a 40%... actually there are a few fitties that follow us around."
"She may be a fittie but the thing is that she's following you around everywhere and I think it's a bit weird."
Personally, as someone who is insecure about the way they look, I find some of these comments quite offensive. Although I know that they're not aimed at me, I do feel quite strongly about some of the things said.
To begin with, although they didn't use the word in this actually article, many places have reported that he called fans ugly. That's why he would never sleep with them. Like I said, I am someone who is insecure with their image, and I've always been totally against people who judge outer appearance. Admittedly, saying that he only sleeps with people who are 'fit' makes Matt look bad, but I just don't like the narrow minded approach. Just because you might not be every guys idea of good looking, doesn't make you a bad person, and sure as hell doesn't make you a bad lover! Like one person said, Matt is hardly an oil painting...... ( i know that that sounds weird coming from me, but I liked the personality before the face.)
Plus, I also find Matt's attitude that, everyone waiting at the stage door wants to sleep with him, very strange. Many people wait at the side door for a chance to meet their idols. I know that If I ever waited at the side door for someone like .............. Elton John.......... It wouldn't be because I want to sleep with him, it's because I think he's a fantastic musician. I know that, If I met my idol, I wouldn't be thinking, Oh My god, how am I going to get them into bed with me, I'd be thinking, Oh my god, I think you're amazing. I just think that the second comment is quite big headed.
I know that there are exceptions and there are a lot of groupies, but this whole thing kinda uses fans in general.
Anyways,
Rant over.
Please don't flame me for my opinion, but please feel free to post yours
