Carrying on from the old forums.. what is Mattie's real surname?
On most sites, it says Willis.
In a magazine, he said about being called up in assembly as Woods.
In another magazine, it said Sargeant.
MAKE UP YOUR MIND!! haha, does anyone know which one it really is?

what happened was that matt's rents split up + his ma got remarried or summat and dat guys name wos willis but his dads name was woods and he didnt wanna take sides so he chose jay! i think 'matt' is fine by me!

In Smash Hits once, it had their report cards, and it said Sargeant.. I think that's where it came from anyway.

Listen here ppl, i think hes just tryin 2 confuse us lol, first its jay, then its willis an then hes middle names jay, ok fair enuff, but then he sed in a interview 'can matthew woods cum up here!' what the fuk? lol hes tryin 2 pulla fast 1, its like Duncan 'James' off blue, tut tut mattie just tell us ya real name ya muppet lol

okay as far as i can tell i think (and that's think) that it goes like this.
Willis is his dad's surname so it went on is birth certificate so in theory is his real name and the surname of Darren
Woods is his mums maiden name so when her and his dad split up he took that for a while
Sargeant is his Stepdad's surname and so he took that when his mum and step dad got married so it may be Amanda's surname as well.
Jay is just a stage name and i should think it stands for James, his middle name.
When he got famous he reverted back to Willis. That's my logical opinion. It makes sense but might not be the right explaination ;D ;D
oh so in conclusion. i think they are all surnames of his making him Matt James Sargeant Willis Woods. he he he that's funny!!!!

 hi, i have the real facts his mom and dad split up and his dads name was woods, and his mom got married and his stepdads name was willis and he couldn't choose between them, and his middle name was james so he chose that and then shortened it to jay, but he h8s it wen people call him mattie! cuz he feels like a baby, his real name is matthew and hes 21 in 2004 and his starsign is taurus!

that might be right but it doesn't explain the sargeant bit.
so i was right but maybe just had the wrong surnames with the wrong parents.
