Grease
The beach, a hot and summery day. The wind blowing up her hair, the water touching her ankles, the warm arms of him around her fragile body.
“I’m going back to Australia.” The girl whispered, her blonde hair falling over her shoulders, lightly blown up by the soft summer breeze.
“Don’t talk that way, Debbie.” The boy whispered back into her ear, still holding her tight around the waist and looking out over the sea.
“I’ve just had the best summer, and now I have to leave.” She softly moaned. “It isn’t fair.” The boy brushed the hair out of her face, softly kissing her in the neck. “Matt, don’t spoil it.” She said, slightly pushing the boy away from her.
“It’s not spoiling it, it’s making it better.” He groaned and tried to catch her hand to pull her back into his loving arms. She looked at him, her look sad, her eyes watery.
“Matt, is this the end?” The boy shook his head, smiled and hugged her tight.
“Of course not,” He sighed deeply. “This is only the beginning.”
Rydell High School. Summer holidays had just finished, the new students, the old ones, everyone was outside, enjoying the last free minutes in the sun, some girls sitting on the grass, trying to get a tan.
Two boys were hanging round near the doors of the school, playing about and jumping around.
“Hey!” One of the boys, dark hair, bit round, yelled, jumping, trying to catch the small green box that his friend took away. “Give me that!” He tried again. His pal just grinned cheekily and threw back the green plastic box.
“You’re supposed to bury this.” He remarked, his sparkling blue eyes twinkling, and gave the lad a playful push. The lad looked at him with an evil eye.
“It’s my lunch!” The other one laughed.
“Your old lady made lunch?” Again he laughed, bending over and clutching his stomach.
“She does it every year on the first day of school.” The gaze on his mate rolled over to another familiar face. “Hey Chaz!” His friend saw him too, and they both started waving.
“Chaz, over here!” The dude smacked him on his chest as some sort of happy outburst in seeing his friend again. “Hey, where you at?”
“Where were you all Summer?” Charlie pushed his pals away and straightened his black, leather jacket.
“Are you my mother?” The blonde one looked down, and blushed a bit.
“I was just asking.” Charlie puffed and pulled the collar of the jacket up.
“I was working.” He stated.
“Working?” Tom, the dark haired one, asked.
“Lugging boxes at Bargain City, moron.” Charlie replied, saying it in such a way as if Tom was stupid. And quite frankly, he was stupid.
“Nice job.” Tom hissed between his teeth, sarcastically. Charlie shot him an evil eye.
“Eat me, I’ve been saving for some wheels.” James, the blonde lad suddenly got all excited.
“Want to hear what I did?” Charlie rolled his eyes, Tom followed his example.
“No.”
“Hey, there’s Matt!” Tom yelped, slapping Charlie on his chest, making him aware of the fact that he saw the other member of their gang. James saw him too,
“Matt!”
“Hey, Matt!”
“Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt!”
“Matt!”
“How you doing, huh?”
“Hey, Matt!” The lad, Matt, who had previously been chatting up girls, with a fag between his lips, started walking off to his mates.
“Hey, come on!” Charlie and Matt both got their combs out of their jacket and started combing their hair with one slick move.
“Hey, how you doing? Good to see you.” Matt said, smiling from ear to ear.
“You seen any new broads over there?” Charlie asked, nodding towards the girls leaning against the school walls, giggling away.
“Nah. Just the same old chicks.” Tom tried to get Matt’s attention by tapping him on the shoulder.
“So, what did you do all summer, Matt?” A cheeky grin crept over Matt’s face and he put his hands in his pockets. He sniffed once before answering this obviously oh so important question.
“I was hanging around at the beach.” Tom’s eyes started to twinkle.
“With chicks hanging around you.” James thought he’d say something useful as well.
“The only thing that hangs around Tom are the flies.” Tom dropped his heavy body on James and they playfully started fighting, nearly falling in the bright green bushes that surrounded their school.
“How was the action at the beach?” Charlie asked his best mate, adding a wink as he did.
“Ooh, it was flipping.” Matt just said, thinking back to the summer days he spent at the beach. “I did meet this one cool chick.” He added, Tom couldn’t hide his excitement.
“You mean she puts out?” He asked, obviously very curious of what his friend had been doing all summer. Matt pulled up an eyebrow and hit Tom on the chest.
“Is that all you ever think about?” Tom laughed.
“Freakin’ A!” The bell rang, the boys collected themselves and made the first moves to go inside the school.
